Dear Mr. Muha:
The following is a summary of the tests we have completed for your company.
Purpose
of Study
Outbreaks of human disease associated with the consumption of raw fruits
and vegetables have increased over the past decade. Fruits and vegetable
can become contaminated with microorganisms capable of causing human disease
while still on the plant in the fields or orchards, during harvesting,
transport, processing and distribution. Therefore we test the Superior
Aqua Agricultural System ability to reduce microorganisms on raw fruits
and vegetables.
Results
Samples of scallions from a farm were tested for E. coli bacteria.
The scallions had greater than 600,000 colonies. The Superior Aqua Agricultural
System was installed on a recirculated tank. The copper level was raised
to 1mg/L. The scallions were introduced into the tank. The scallions were
removed and were tested for E. coli bacteria. There were less than
100 colonies.
Conclusion
The Superior Aqua Agricultural System achieved a 3.5 log reduction of
microorganisms on the scallions. The use of chlorine in conjunction with
the Superior Aqua Agricultural System will achieve additional reduction
of microorganisms.
Sincerely,
Debra
